History
Near Sozopoli are the medieval Byzantine site Veria and Toumba, once linked to the Kassandra bishopric. Until 1948 the settlement was called Serviko Metochio. In the 1920s, Greek settlers from the Bulgarian town of Sozopol arrived, and the village name became Sozopoli.
